Dr. Andrew Peachey

Dr. Andrew Peachey comes to JMU from Greensboro, North Carolina.  Most recently, he served as an instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro after earning his doctorate in Public Health Education and a Master of Arts degree in Applied Geography.  In addition, Dr. Peachey’s work experience includes serving as the Team Leader in the Department of Virology at LabCorp and as an Assistant Policy Analyst at Triad Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition.

Dr. Peachey’s research interests include understanding the distribution of physical and social resources in communities in order to develop health promotion strategies and policies within a socio-ecological framework and understanding the relationship between the built environment and physical activity through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Dr. Peachey resides in McGaheysville with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys running and hiking.
