Program Advisory Committee

The HSA Program Advisory Committee is an important part of the program. The mission of the Program Advisory Committee is to provide advice, suggestions and support to the program faculty and department leadership regarding strengthening the program. Such advice, suggestions and support may reflect analysis and recommendations regarding program goals and objectives, curriculum, student admissions and activities, certification under the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, alumni relationships and activities, strategic planning, promotion of the program, and linkages with health services organizations, professional associations and other external stakeholders. This mission is carried out by the Program Advisory Committee meeting twice a year to review and evaluate specific issues of importance to the program as identified by students, program faculty, department and university leadership, and by members of the Program Advisory Committee. In addition, the input of Program Advisory Committee members also may be sought by program faculty through individual communication at other times when specific input and suggestions are deemed needed.

The Program Advisory Committee includes individuals who are advocates for the program, and who are highly regarded and accomplished healthcare management professionals. The committee membership includes senior managers in diverse health care settings, such as a CEO of a health system, CEO of a long term care organization, Chief Medical Officer of a local hospital, and practice administrator of a large surgical practice. In addition, the committee includes a current HSA student, and several graduates of the JMU HSA Program. The membership of the Program Advisory Committee is as follows:
