Accreditation, Student Outcomes, and Certification
In February of 2013, the James Madison University Master of Occupational Therapy (M.O.T.) Program received a ten year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). We will be going up for accreditation again during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Graduates of the James Madison University Master of Occupational Therapy Program are eligible to apply to take the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Board Exam ® (NBCOT), however, applicants and students should be aware that a felony conviction/charge may affect a graduate’s eligibility to sit for the NBCOT exam and/or apply for state licensure. To date, 201 students have successfully graduated from the James Madison University Master of Occupational Therapy Program. During the three year period of 2014-2016, sixty-six (66) students out of 69 graduated, with an overall graduation rate of 95.6%.
